Whitcomb R. Scott, III
Whit Scott received his B.S., summa cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and his Juris Doctor at North Carolina Central University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Scott was an editor of the North Carolina Central University Law Review as well as a member of the Intellectual Property Society.
Before and while attending law school at night, Mr. Scott worked full-time for 10 years as a mechanical development engineer at IBM and Lenovo, specializing in electronics packaging, heat transfer, component and system-level cooling in a micro-electronics environment, energy efficient designs, and advanced thermal simulation using computational fluid dynamics software. While at IBM, Mr. Scott earned the IBM Corporate Environmental Innovation Award for his role in developing the iDataPlex Server, which was the world’s most energy efficient volume class server at the time.
Mr. Scott is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and is registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
