Leon R. Legleiter, Ph.D.
Leon R. Legleiter, Ph.D. earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science, cum laude, at the University of Missouri, his M.S. in Animal Science at the University of Missouri, his Ph.D. in Nutrition at North Carolina State University, and his J.D., summa cum laude, at North Carolina Central University. Dr. Legleiter worked as a Research Assistant while at the University of Missouri and at North Carolina State University. He is admitted to the State Bar of North Carolina and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Legleiter has experience in patent preparation and patent prosecution before the United States Patent & Trademark Office, particularly in the life sciences, including such areas as medical biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, biochemistry, immunology, and pharmaceuticals, as well as imaging technologies, analytical equipment and methodologies, and nanotechnology applications.
Dr. Legleiter has authored numerous scientific publications in a variety of peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications and Journal of Animal Science, and presented research at numerous scientific meetings. He has a breadth of research experience ranging from applied animal science to basic molecular biology, with extensive research experience in amino acid absorption and metabolism, trace mineral nutrition, and prion protein biology.
